A unit of measure against which all American-Canadian-Japanese, bastard-child Franken-bands shall henceforth be compared. DJ For Hire's starting line-up sees skin man Bert Rickles between the pipes, taking howitzer-like slapshots to his unprotected groin; wingers Squid Tempura and Miss Guy (pronounced "gee" as in Guy LaFleur) are prototypical lunchpailers, often dealing the body while occasionally dropping the mits and guitars for stage-clearing pier 6 brawls; and, finally, streaking down the center with a flowing helmetless mullet is man-diva Mathieu Gilles, almost always found in the locker room sitting on the crapper when he is not out on the ice putting the biscuit in the basket. DJ for Hire are pre-season favorites to hoist the Cup this year.

A bit too much blues and grit for her liking. They have a CD out, which you can buy at one of their many gigs, and it is rather nice, even if we do say so ourselves. His songs tackle subjects as profound as alcohol, cigarettes, politics and terrorism with the occasional monkey song thrown in for good measure, all wrapped up in an entertaining folk-rock style. Some of his songs are funny, some are serious, some are sad and some are bad, but you're guaranteed to have a good time if you go and check him out! He plays mainly around Tenjin so keep your eyes peeled!
