I've been in Fukuoka for about 5 years now. My Japanese is slowly improving, but my English is fine ;-) I usually find most Japanese people speak too fast, especially Hakata people! If you can speak easy Japanese with me, then I'll speak easy English with you.
I'm a quiet person, I prefer books and movies to nightclubs. I also like being outdoors during the warmer seasons, and having a cup of tea at home when it's cold. The occasional beer on the balcony doesn't go wrong, though. Or a hike up a mountain. (I go for one day hikes around Fukuoka prefecture. I might be looking a a trip to Hokkaido or somewhere else for hiking.)
As for travel, I've been most places in Japan from Tokyo across to Kyushu and everywhere in-between, including Shikoku. If you can suggest somewhere new, that'd be great. Especially using the 18 youth ticket.
I'm a big fan of Japanese anime, especially Tetsuwan Atomu (Astroboy) and movies like Ghost in the Shell and The Matrix. I came to Japanese because I grew up watching Astro Boy and Japan is the centre of all things cool.
For music, anything from Chemical Brothers to 1930's scratchy guitar blues. I'd love to see some Japanese bands live, especially Love Psychedelico.
